Note: If you’re trying to use Framedrop do not worry as this error does not affect it.

There are several things you can do to try to fix this issue. These are:

  • Refreshing Twitch
  • Checking your internet connection
  • Disabling ad blocker extensions
  • Clearing your cache
  • Updating your browser
  • Disabling your VPN

Possible Fixes:

Refreshing Twitch

You’ve likely already tried this but in case you didn’t, make sure you refresh Twitch. All you have to do is press F5 on your keyboard or click the refresh button next to the address bar.

If the error persists then the next step is making sure Twitch is up.

Checking Twitch Status

Twitch, like any other platform, goes down sometimes. To check Twitch’s current status you can use Twitch’s own status tool. If Twitch is indeed down there is nothing one can do but wait (offline games will still be there for you though).

Checking Your Internet Connection

If you are reading this on the same device you are having the “There was a network error. Please try again (Error #2000)” on Twitch then you can naturally rule out not being connected to the internet. This connection can, however, be slow or inconsistent which could be causing the error.

To check your internet speed and strength head to the following platforms:

Disabling Ad Blocker Extensions

The next fix to try is disabling your ad blocker, if you are using one. Ad blocker extensions are known to make Twitch fail to load and as such it is worth trying to disable them.

On Google Chrome, click on the puzzle piece right next to the pinned extensions and then click Manage Extensions. Once in, locate your ad blocker extension and disable it.

On Mozilla Firefox, click on the burger menu on the top right corner. After that, go to Add-ons and themes and disable your ad blocker.

On Safari, click on the Safari menu on the top right corner. Go to Preferences and then Extensions. There you can disable the ad blocker extension.

Lastly, on Microsoft Edge, click the three dots in the top right corner. Then, click Extensions and Manage Extensions. Disable the ad blocker extension.

If none of that worked, try disabling all extensions and check if Twitch loads. Move on to the next fix in case the problem persists.

Clearing Your Cache

Another possible fix might be clearing your cache. Here’s how you can do just that on the most popular browsers:

On Google Chrome:

  1. Click the three dots in the top right corner
  2. Then, click on Clear Browsing Data…
  3. On Time Range select All Time and check Cached images and files. Then, Clear data

On Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Click on the burger menu in the top right corner of your window
  2. Go to History and then Clear recent history
  3. In Time Range select Everything and check Cache. After, click Clear Now

On Safari:

  1. Click on Safari menu and then Preferences
  2. Click on Advanced and check Show Develop menu in menu bar
  3. A Develop menu will show in the top bar. Click on it and then click Empty Caches

On Microsoft Edge:

  1. Click the three dots in the top right corner
  2. Select History and then click on the trash bin
  3. In Time Range select All Time and then check Cached images and files. Click Clear now

After following these steps, restart your browser and re-open Twitch. If it still does not work try updating your browser.

Updating Your Browser

To update Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge all you need to do is go to the respective browsers About page. You can do this by clicking the three dotted menu (or burger menu) on the top right corner, click on Help and then About [your browser here]

Safari works a little differently. Here’s how you can update your Safari:

  1. Go to System Settings in the Apple menu
  2. Click on General and then Software Update
  3. If new updates exist, click Update now

Disabling Your VPN

Do you use a VPN? VPNs can often be IP restricted by platforms and as such this might be the reason you are getting the “There was a network error. Please try again (Error #2000)” error on Twitch.

If you don’t want to disable your VPN try changing your axcess location first and see if that works. Additionally you can hide your IP from Twitch.

Conclusion
